palm muting.

for fx, this is what I use!!..not sure what Tom uses, but im gonna
guess his Line 6 amp was used with it, who knows tho

wah, tremelo (for boss, set rate to 3 o�clock, and turn the other knobs as far right as possible) delay, 
flanger, and some detune on the whammy pedal.

note: theres two guitar tracks on this solo, so its kinda hard to tell whats goin on. i think tom may 
actually use a phaser of some sort for one guitar track, and the wah and tremelo for the other, with 
both tracks playing the same note. at the end the guitar with just tremelo and wah strikes this chord:

the other guitar continues with its f*cked up noises. i suggest just running ur fingers along the 
fretboard randomly.  Tom also uses this effect on BOLA..i think on Mic Check.

this may be a studio effect, but i think tom rolls his whammy pedal up an octave very slowly.  if u do 
the solo the way i do it (meaning with the detune on the whammy) use ur foot or hand when u have a 
chance to change the setting.
